The main active ingredient of Genotropin is (somatropin) a human growth hormone that is important for the growth of bones and muscles.
For the first time, scientists of the 20th century thought about creating such a tool. The fact is that many functions in the body depend on somatropin:
✓ stimulates the growth of bones of the human skeleton, acting on the plates of the epiphysis of tubular bones,
✓ causes an increase in the number and size of muscle, liver, thymus, gonadal, adrenal and thyroid cells.
✓ activates the synthesis of chondroitin sulfate and collagen,
✓ increases the excretion of hydroxyproline, increases body weight,
✓ regulates protein metabolism - stimulates the transport of amino acids into the cell and protein synthesis.
✓ lowers cholesterol, increases the number of triglycerides, reduces the amount of adipose tissue;
✓ inhibits the release of insulin and causes hyperglycemia.
✓ prevents the excretion of liquid, nitrogen, sodium, potassium and phosphorus. The loss of calcium due to accelerated renal excretion is compensated by its increased absorption into the gastrointestinal tract.
The drug Genotropin in medicine is used to treat growth failure in children and adults who lack natural growth hormone. Including people with short stature due to Turner syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, etc.
The initial dose for adults with growth hormone deficiency is 0.15-0.3 mg (0.45-0.9 IU) / day.
The maintenance dose is selected individually according to age and sex. It rarely exceeds 1.3 mg (4 IU) / day.
Women may need a higher dose than men.
Since the normal physiological production of growth hormone decreases with age, the dose may be reduced according to age.
Medical use differs significantly from sports dosage.
If the purpose of the reception was to increase the rate of healing of injuries, 4-5 IU per day, divided into 2 injections, is sufficient.
When gaining mass by beginners, you can increase this amount to 10 IU per day. More experienced athletes use different dosages, but not more than 30 IU per day.
Attention should be paid:
✓ Regardless of the purpose for which and by whom the drug is used, the dose of the drug should be selected individually.
✓ Before use, make sure that you are not allergic to the active and excipients.
✓ Taking large doses of Genotropin for a long time can lead to an increase in tubular bones.
Overdose
In acute overdose, hypoglycemia and then hyperglycemia are possible.
Prolonged over dosage may present with the well-known symptoms of excess human growth hormone (acromegaly, gigantism).
Treatment of an overdose requires immediate medical attention, withdrawal of the drug, symptomatic therapy.
How to use Genotropin?
The drug is administered subcutaneously using special injectors.
Genotropin is available as a lyophilized powder in cartridges. The cartridge contains a lyophilisate and a solution for diluting it.
✓ After the cartridge is inserted into the injector, the drug is diluted automatically.
✓ When diluting the drug, the solution must not be shaken.
✓ In order to prevent lipoatrophy, the injection sites should be changed each time.
Side effects.
✓ Side effects due to fluid retention: in adults, rarely - peripheral edema, pastosity of the lower extremities, arthralgia, myalgia and paresthesia. These phenomena are usually mild or moderate, appear during the first months of treatment and subside spontaneously or after reducing the dose of the drug. In children, these side effects are much less common.
✓ From the side of the central nervous system: rarely - benign intracranial hypertension, optic nerve edema may develop.
✓ On the part of the endocrine system: rarely - the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus. A decrease in serum cortisol levels is also detected. The clinical significance of this phenomenon appears to be limited.
✓ From the musculoskeletal system: dislocations and subluxations of the femoral head, accompanied by limping, pain in the hip and knee; in patients with Prader-Willi syndrome, scoliosis may develop (because Genotropin enhances the growth rate); very rarely - myositis, which can be caused by the action of the preservative m-cresol, which is part of Genotropin.
✓ Allergic reactions: skin rash and itching.
✓ Local reactions: at the injection site, rarely - rash, itching, soreness, numbness, hyperemia, swelling, lipoatrophy.
✓ Other: in isolated cases - the development of leukemia in children, however, the incidence of leukemia does not differ from that in children without growth hormone deficiency.
The frequency of adverse reactions is determined on the following scale: > 10% - very often; >1% and 0.1% and 0.01% and <0.1% - rare; <0.01%, taking into account isolated cases - very rare.
Contraindications for use
Like any medical drug, Genotropin has its own contraindications.
It should not be used if the following conditions are present:
• the presence of symptoms of tumor growth, including uncontrolled growth of a benign intracranial tumor (anticancer therapy must be completed before treatment with Genotropin);
• a critical condition that has developed acutely in patients as a result of open heart or abdominal surgery, multiple trauma and acute respiratory failure;
• severe forms of obesity (body weight/height ratio exceeds 200%)
• severe respiratory disorders in patients with Prader-Willi syndrome;
• closure of the growth zones of the epiphyses of tubular bones;
• hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
With caution, only under the supervision of a specialist, you should take the drug to people who have a history of:
• diabetes mellitus (possibly decreased sensitivity to insulin),
• intracranial hypertension,
• hypothyroidism,
• pregnancy, lactation (Experimental studies on animals did not reveal a negative effect on the fetus, from which, however, it does not follow that similar results will be obtained when Genotropin is used in humans)
Legality in the world
Due to its effectiveness, Genotropin and its analogues very quickly became popular among athletes: professionals and amateurs.
In 1989, growth hormone was officially banned by the Olympic Committee, however, despite this, in recent years, sales of the drug have increased several times.
For the most part, growth hormone is not used for its intended purpose, by bodybuilders who combine it with other anabolic drugs.
Black market. How to buy without a prescription.
Genotropin can only be legally purchased in most countries with a prescription. However, it is not difficult to turn to the Internet and order this drug by mail.
It is often cheaper to buy online than in pharmacies.
Average HGH cost in the gray market.
The average cost of subcutaneous Genotropin powder for injection is approximately $50 per daily dose.
Some analogues of the drug will cost several times more.
Use in bodybuilding and other useful information.
The popularity of growth hormone in sports is due to its powerful anabolic and lipolytic potential.
Studies have shown that under the action of growth hormone, lipolysis processes are enhanced not only in the subcutaneous adipose tissue, but also in the visceral adipose tissue surrounding the internal organs.
Genotropin is used by athletes as a means for gaining muscle and burning excess fat (drying) and is also good because, unlike steroids, after a course of such a drug, the volume of increased muscles is preserved.
The main active ingredient of Genotropin is somatotropin. It maintains a normal body structure by stimulating muscle growth and promoting fat mobilization.
Visceral adipose tissue is especially sensitive to growth hormone. In addition to stimulating lipolysis, growth hormone reduces the flow of triglycerides into fat depots.
In addition, the drug has an effect on fat, carbohydrate and water-salt metabolism.
Simply put, Genotropin will be useful for those athletes who want to gain high-quality muscle mass in a short time, even if they do not have a genetic predisposition to the ease of this process.
That is, using this drug, any person creates an excellent relief, provided that training is properly organized.
Thus, the main features of Genotropin are:
• Anabolic activity;
• Strengthening of the skeletal system, a positive effect on cartilage, joints, tendons and ligaments;
• Reducing the percentage of visceral and subcutaneous fat;
• Help in gaining quality muscle mass.
• Development of peak strength, increase in endurance;
• Improvement of body composition;
• Strengthening the depth and clarity of muscle relief
• Increasing the psychological mood.
